If it's mostly for projects, isn't DV like notoriously slow with that? Like I know cptbadass waited over a year to get a kitty paw from him and he wasn't the only one that had a long wait like that.
I'm really surprised all this is happening... I've always known Dorkvader to be an excellent guy. Honestly, I think he's just a perfectionist, and that's why he takes so much time with everything. If you've seen anything he's worked on, it's not just good, it's as good as it could possibly be. (CPTBadAss's cat's paw is a fine example.) I'd even go as far as to say that, when it comes to electronics, he's an artist.
Back at the end of February, I sent him some dough for a Model M he'd bolt-modded, and for a Model F AT he was going to convert to ANSI for me.
The Model M arrived a couple of weeks later, and it was (and is) fantastic. (It's the one he did in his pictorial here.)
I'm still waiting on the AT, but DV has regularly updated me on its progress. He's never done this particular mod and had to get some extra tools for it.
He's also has a full-time job now. He's not only doing repairs, but training other staff members and working directly with customers. From what I can tell (and just knowing how he is), he's putting in significantly more work than they actually require.
Consequently, he's had a very limited amount of time for keyboard stuff over the last few months. But he's always kept me up-to-date, in great detail, on what was going on. And considering the exceptional quality of his work—and how much I've enjoyed communicating with him—I don't mind the wait.
I don't know BerserkFan much, except that he's said some pretty funny things on the forum that've made me LOL.
I'm sure there's a logical explanation for all this, and I'm guessing it has to do with DV's insistence on doing everything ultra-well. You just can't rush things like that. Maybe DV doesn't think some of us would understand his attitude, and just think he was dragging his feet. (I know I'd understand, as that's how I approach my music and technical writing.)
And maybe he hasn't posted here because he's somewhat shy. I'd feel shy, too, if I thought that people were lurking somewhere, ready to pounce on me as soon as I appeared. And frankly, that's what it feels like in this topic.
Having said all that, I agree that it doesn't reflect well on GH in general to have accusations of dishonesty floating around about one of its moderators (presumably one of the site's most responsible people). So the quicker all this can be cleared up, the better for everyone.
I've participated in countless forums over the years, and computer BBSs before that. (If you even know what those are, you must be getting on like me!) BBSs had a big advantage because they were local. Inevitably, conflicts flared up on them; then there'd be a get-together somewhere in town, and as soon as they saw each other, the people who'd squabbled would realize they'd just had a misunderstanding—which is VERY easy to do in text. I'm sure that if we could all meet in person somehow, this would be quickly and amicably resolved.
