Your insecurity about the sexytimes is my favorite thing about you. Just so you know.

Also, keycap is cool. I don't know anything about anime, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

alas drinking is an occupational hazard in this country.. you just have to take it..

Making keycaps has been my only salvation..  because I certainly wouldn't be drunk around a Cnc Lathe that can easily take my arm off..

3000 rpm ftw..

I'm perfectly ok with the ACT-of..  but it's difficult for me to talks about it. specially on GH, since we're trying to keep it PG for the younger audience.

Funny you should mention that..

We fired one out of a CO2 gun that just happens to be the exact diameter of the cap 18mm (cherrymx)

we shot it straight up on a grass field hoping it would come down,  Never found it.

So, theoretically..  It pierced the heavens, and/or someone's car..

But we're sure no one died,  cuz we checked the local news for 2 days.

Hahaha..

Glitch.. I'm sorriz if I've said something in those terms.. Surely I didn't mean it, since I myself watch anime..

Overall.. Keycap making has been a profound experience..

It's one thing to just buy a keyboard wth caps on them..  But TO MAKE..

I feel closer to my ergodox,  even though it's now significantly more dangerous to use the -F4- key.. which is where I've put one of these dorills.

To anyone else out there, who is considering making keycaps, give it a go,  it's fun, and really brings you closer to all the keyboards you own..

You don't need Fancy machines.....  I think I would've been just as happy making a plastic cap with a mold kit..

Putting it on F4 just guarantees you that you won't rage alt+f4 out of a game

This keycap is for the Anime Fans..

Probably, the most Dangerous Keycap made to date..

(Attachment Link)

Aluminum (cap), Aircraft wood + Acrylic (display case)

Been making some caps for fun while learning to machine..

I made this one completely Solo.

This build process utilizes:

cnc Lathe (turned at 2000 rpm)
cnc Laser (used to cut display case)
cnc EDM (electrical discharge machining)

Software used:

Solidworks 2015
Mastercam 9

If any of ya'll anime fans are interested.. well... some bad news....

I discussed it with the local shop again today,  they changed their minds since the last time they gave me a quote, and won't do anything under 100.. so pretty much not gonna happen.

The issue is, I don't have that much time to machine it on my own.. at most i can produce around 20..

Do you have a pic of the stem?

it's a cross cut, using the EDM machine.. I didn't take a pic of it, since it doesn't seem that interesting, lol.

You can't machine the corners like poured plastics. there are no bits that can make the corner..  Even with a laser, it'd be hard to get a smooth wall.

I could also make it on the cnc mill instead of edm, still under consideration.

I tried the "square cross" like the holyops, I didn't like it because I feel like these pegs need as muc structural support as possible.
