I cannot find a movie from old times

I can't help you with the manufacturing movie, but your thread reply makes me want to go off on a tangent.

My father's 1st cousin was a minor star in Hollywood in the mid-late 1930s to the mid-1940s, and had supporting roles in well over a dozen movies and TV shows. But almost all of them seem to be gone. (Most enduring role was as a love interest for Young Doctor Kildare.)

Apparently the old-style acetate film deteriorates badly over time. What a shame.

I was thinking of Blue Collar with Richard Pryor and Harvey Keitel, but your description sounds different. Could it have been a documentary?

Blue Collar is a great and underrated movie though. I'd recommend it  :thumb:

I'm sure it wasn't a documentary.

There's gonna be a "28 years later." Split into 2 parts?

Does ne1 even remember the 1st 2 movies?

Gotta watch old shows to even remember what humans looked like without too heavy a pass of digital air-brushing.

Going outside into the real world is not so bad.

Too bad you never see any ordinary people in Costco.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

It's different. In real life, you can't see the fine detail at a distance. And they don't stand still.

The video frame is much larger than in real life.  In that screen shot, her head and hair is 21 inches across on Tp's monitor.

That's the mindset of someone who sees something amazing and immediately pulls out their phone instead of being in the moment and regretting not getting video later.

Hol'up, Season 2 Episode 5 (Condemned),

They flew in 3 wraith cruisers, just to feed on what looked like 40-50 people?

That means the Wraith's energy economy is such that, atmospheric entry/flight is so cheap, that eating 40-50 humans is "Worth" the trade?

That's impossible. Even if it were 100s of people. It could not be the case that moving that much mass through space would be net positive.

Context: The doctor is telling John Shepherd who's infected with a retrovirus mutating him into a Iratus hybrid, to go into the cave and collect as many egg samples as possible to be harvested for stem cells to create an antidote.

Our nuclear subs have the same issue, they can stay out/under longer than they can store enough food for. I you have the ability to travel through space like they do, energy is less important than food. For them swooping down and grabbing people is not much different from how we collect oysters, crab, and most fish.

One supposes here, the Subs are pretty small though, the cruiser is larger than a sub but still big by flight standards, but those Hive ships which they're part of the fleet of are the size of cities. With the amount of energy and technology, it's pretty inconceivable that they couldn't convert to food, even if inefficiently.

They have beaming tech in the Atlantis universe, the wraith has the dart ship human capture devices, so does the Asgard, but no food replicators. The whole show hinges on them not having replicators.

The show somewhat addressed this, planets are harvested just as if they are farms, they go from one "farm" to the next culling the herds (free range humans?). If I remember right they even seeded planets for this purpose.

If they just beam up a hughmahn.

Keep him in the data buffer, just clone 1 whenever a wraith gets hungry. It's inconceivable that they couldn't think of this.

Episode 7 Penguin.

They're leaning into that old-old TV trope where you can just conveniently fail spectacularly to kill someone with a whole backpack of explosives.

It's ok I guess, but they could've made it more realistic. Because plot devices such as these don't do anything, everything before and after would happen exactly the same way.

Noticed that LCDs hide near black banding.

Bottom left quadrant, the gradients are smooth/flat looking on LCD, on OLED it's very bandy, clearly visible compression artifacts..

You know, they got it in the moovies that men can just casually pick up women when they faint and yeet them around.

That's HIGHLY unrealistic.  Even when you could pick them up, short of throwing them over the shoulder like rice bags, it would be impossible to carry them very far just by curling.

Each female is like 130-150lbs these days, that's 5-6 bags of rice. We ran into the same problem back in the day carrying large CRT TVs/ Monitors.

Notice his facial expression during the quick pan, it's an unrealistic way to carry a person, even the great John Sheperd is under some pressure to curl this.

Also, you see how Elizabeth has one arm around the back of John's neck, this is because there's too much forward weight, she could easily fall off is she was actually fainted.

Canary Black (2024).

How, can a script like this, get approved?

Even if this movie was the first of its type you've ever seen in your life, it would STILL be a bad movie. There were literally zero redeeming qualities.

Rewatched The Substance in 4K, and man, it was even better the 2nd time around. I rarely get to watch things in 4K, last film being The Thing remaster like 3 years ago.
The colors pop so much more, the increased bitrate really adds smoothness to those wide pans and zooms the director likes to use, and those leotards have never looked shiner!

The Substance is easily my film of the year. Get the wife and kids together, pour yourself a glass of oj, and have a nice family movie night.

This is interesting. Notice they selectively used quite alot of denoise+sharpen-algo on the wet hair to the right, but kept the skin and background grainy. Looks uncanny if you pause it, but it looks great in motion.

They do say the terminator is made with hyper-alloy.

Now, if we take it as is, it would be impossible that the terminator after burning would look so clean. The Exo-organic cover would leave oily carbon residue.

You might get away with explaining how perhaps the shockwave and heat of the blast was so much that it vaporized and blew it loose.

The other way one can explain it would be that Hyper-alloy has some intrinsic quality, such that the surface treatment is so well done, nothing can stick to it.

Skynet would make a great stir-fry, using Hyper alloy in woks/ pans.

Hmm.. The last release of Aliens had some serious AI-upscaling artefacts: with detail added where the original had none.
Is this really better?

Mmm, purists think in terms of genetic legacy, where something like cosmetic surgery is cheating, and is not a true fitness indicator.

This is not an entirely accurate assessment. If they can in the future modify people's appearance via gene-therapy, then the result is effectively the same.

We have achieved that level of technology for AI upscaling in Movies, but not genetics.

It's just a matter of time though.

Stargate Atlantis, just episode after episode, so good, even the weaker ones are still better than most of "Modern" TV.

Will Oled glasses resurrect 3D movies?

Watched the first 5 episodes of Dragonball Daima. It's good, but I don't feel like as a DBZ fan, I am the demo audience. Especially given my age range.

Whereas Super felt to me like a slightly more mature fan service for people who grew up with Z, Daima feels much more in line with the og DB series from the '80s and more targeted towards bringing in a new generation of younger fans. Not that that's a bad thing.

The fight sequence animation is really great, but if you are watching because you have favorite Z characters you wanna see, this may not be the show for you as they ditch everyone but Goku from the 2nd episode.
And man, does this series get their mileage out of "and what if everyone were children again" plot. I think this is the 3rd time this has happened?

It's not bad, more focused on exploration than just fighting.

Tp4 doesn't find the plot very interesting. It hasn't created any pertinent problems. It feels like a bootstrap bag of nonsense. Entirely illogical given that they have all their memories.

As far as a kids show goes, there's no continuity other than the art style, do young people even watch the old Dragon Ball? They can't be old enough to be nostalgic. Hrrm.. IDK about this series.

If we analyze the Meta, well, the universe cools and achieves maximum entropy, but it HAS TO coalesce again, because otherwise it would have nothing to expand from in the first place.

So, maybe by intuition alone, we can perceive that this type of progression is correct and possible, a universe might also choose to forget, or perhaps data storage isn't a concept/ problem for perfect entities, since it is eternal, it doesn't need storage, there is no concept of linearity, merely perpetual being/flux..

I see Daima as a soft reboot for the franchise, reintroducing a younger audience to the adventure aspect of the show. Before it became all about power levels and beam struggles.

These wraith ship jail bar slots are huge, you can fit 2 adults through that.
