muscle gains? You don't get healthy lifting its all about the cardio
Not really true unless you're overweight. Excessive long distance running is actually deleterious to your health, as my two dead track coaches (and actual non anecdotal studies) would attest. If you eat well and lift you'll be in excellent health, if you eat trash and lift not so much. I do occasional interval cardio, but 90% just weight lifting, and health is much better than when I was cardio heavy. I will say cardio is the only way to lose a lot of weight fast, but you have to do the high intensity stuff, no jogging.
Good way to start, TP, is 100 pushups, situps and squats (if you need to look up form, do it, don't get injured) daily. This is what I did to start after losing a bunch of weight over a summer, and it worked well for me. Even on an all rice diet

you'll see a difference in a month.
