TP WORKS OUT?
I took a break from running and it's been about 1.5 years since I've ran competitively. In high school I did track and cross country so I was always a lean guy at 5'6 125lb. Last year I was at about 135lb and I completely stopped running and not caring about my diet, I gained about 35lb and I was chubby as hell. Since new years I have severely limit my diet and choosing healthy meals now I'm down 20lb. The first couple pounds are easy but after that it is hell. I need to run about 20miles a week to at least lose 1lb a week.

losing weight is such a drag   :'(

Well it really depends on what you are trying to achieve I just prefer cardio. Muscle gain doesn't really interest me plus it wouldn't fit my physique. get swolle tp

Just so you know, I've discovered medieval fencing.
I'm not into sports, but the historical feel and the community sense is helping me.
I'm focusing on Verdadera Destreza (Spanish Rapier school) and not all the weapons though.

awesome job on your part as well! 30 pounds is a lot  :thumb:

The best part of burning some pounds is feeling great. You have more energy and overall feel healthier.

My mom is a runner and health nut so she is kinda helping me out. She bought a pound of fat replica from amazon to put in the kitchen. It really does stops me from grabbing a snack that thing is pretty big.

I'm not into sports either just running, I don't watch football, soccer, basketball, ect.
What ever you are into do it! As long as you like it and keeps you active.
As a young teen I did tae kwon do, sparring sports can be really fun and painfull... spinning back kick to the nose is not fun

Ah nice! Yeah I have just been lifting weights 3-4 times a week and doing cardio 1-2 times a week. I find lifting weights is really fun and rewarding, and it is easy to get into the gym routine. I also count calories through MyFitnessPal, and have been eating 1700 cal/day, which is about a 1000 cal/day deficit, which works out to 2 pounds lost per week.

2lb That's sweet dude keep it up! how much are you aiming to lose? Myfitnesspal is great I use it religiously so I don't go over my deficit, calories matter a ton.
Everyone I know is into lifting  :'( they also say its fun and easy to get into a routine. People call me crazy and think running is a punishment, it's not but it can get boring at times.

tp works out?

My Very basic goal, is to -at least- look like how I was in College.. I know I've gotten too many wrinkles since then,  but very generally in terms of body fat.

So far, my internet says, i probably still have the same muscle mass underneath.. because I did NOT plateau at any point, which means, I never had any of the hypertrophy which would have been lost due to long term lifestyle as a fattie..

So.. the First goal is I suppose to -get down a bit-..

Since, even if I gain 0 muscle,  it should still look alrite-ish..

Pre workout meals ?  Yes or no ?

What do ya'll experts think..

I feel like I'm stronger during the workout after eating.. but is that necessary?

Sometimes I eat, sometimes I dont. I notice no difference.

I drink some Preworkout most days though

muscle gains? You don't get healthy lifting its all about the cardio

Not really true unless you're overweight. Excessive long distance running is actually deleterious to your health, as my two dead track coaches (and actual non anecdotal studies) would attest. If you eat well and lift you'll be in excellent health, if you eat trash and lift not so much. I do occasional interval cardio, but 90% just weight lifting, and health is much better than when I was cardio heavy. I will say cardio is the only way to lose a lot of weight fast, but you have to do the high intensity stuff, no jogging.

Good way to start, TP, is 100 pushups, situps and squats (if you need to look up form, do it, don't get injured) daily. This is what I did to start after losing a bunch of weight over a summer, and it worked well for me. Even on an all rice diet ;) you'll see a difference in a month.

Oooh, I like this thread.

* HoffmanMyster is trying to lose 50 pounds (23 kg)

Basically I just want to look like I did when I was rowing crew in college.  :))  I'm focused more on weight loss than muscle gain at this point, though I will eventually probably try to gain some muscle mass.  Although I'm not really sure how much more intimidating I want to be than my stature already makes me, so I'll probably aim for something on the leaner side.   (perhaps a lofty goal overall  :P )

I work out 2-3 times a week, and, in the summer, one of those times is running. I run only from May-October as I prefer running outside in warmer weather.
