Yeah, looks like 1.5 1 1.25 6.25 1.25 1 1 1.5 so it's a little better than the usual iOne arrangement since it has a standard size space bar instead of 6 unit. I wouldn't want one, but if it was between this and a Black Widow... I don't know. Since they are such a big brand I imagine they have a chance at being stocked at a lot of places that are harder to get mech boards local. I guess it will displace some of thier high price domes boards in thier line up, so that isn't a bad thing.

:le gasp:

Now they need to head on over to cmstorm, have a look at the quickfire TK, and make a "HTK" (hybrid tenkey!) version of this.

If i hadn't recently become so partial to the "mini" layouts, i'd be all over this.

I have to say i like the board's appearance... though i'm not fond of the orange stuff around the macro keys, and i'd like to see them squeeze it down as much as possible, and give it the smallest possible footprint. Think: no space between the "sections" (alpha - edit - tenkey)... no "excess" on the edges of the case.

And who knows... maybe there's a cherry-based upgrade of the g13 in the foreseeable future? Maybe even a "programmable" backlit logitech 60% mech board. ^^

Despite what you guys may think, i bet there's plenty of people out there to gobble up anything logitech may release; especially mech boards of all shapes, sizes, and styles.

Someone should get in contact with someone important at logitech, and link them to GH...

I think people are going to look at the price tag and ask where the LCD screen is? Or why they are paying so much and not getting a screen

It's listed at komplett.no (as someone mentioned in the Hardforum thread) for 1249NOK. That's about $217, which is... A bit expensive.

The best looking mainstream "mechanical" keyboard I've seen in a while (thinking of other iOne made boards), I think. Not that hard of a competition though.

Thought I saw a price of $149 noted somewhere from a US retailer (though I think the link is now dead).

Yeah, about $150 in the US sounds pretty likely. Here in Sweden we talk about 1USD being 10SEK (Swedish kronor) when it comes to tech products, even though 1USD is more like 6,69SEK in reality. Therefore, it should work the other way around too: 1249NOK = 1450SEK. 1450 / 10 = 145USD. :)

Right then. So, so far, we know that the new Logitech mechanical will be expensive and ugly.

I wonder if the little media keys at the top are going to be mechanical...

OMG seriusly logitech?  I mean I think their illuminated keyboard is one of the better looking keyboard out there, it's nice and functional and sleek.  Then they bring out this big ugly monstrosity =____=  Their gaming keyboard line is just....... sighhhh...... need new designer or something

I mean I don't like macro keys, but if I were to buy a keyboard with macro key, I'd get CM Storm Trigger or Razer Blackwidow over this.

So... How much of it is actually mechanical, what kind of controller (NKR) does it have and who manufactures it?... Doesn't seem to be a lot of info yet.

I'm not too sure the mainstream keyboard user cares about any of that stuff. We'd probably have to wait til it comes out and someone decides to buy one and tear it open.

Look at the Shape and Size, it's iONE for sure..... also, "the backlighting" and the bottom row, i'm sick to my stomach

Well I'm pretty sure logitech is aimed towards the mainstream mass consumers.  So cheapest manufacture (iOne) gets the job done = more profit.  People won't know the difference between iOne or Costar.  As for stuff breaking, ideally in a business stand point you want things to break just right outside warranty period.  So people will be forced to buy new one = more money.  Things that never break = don't need to buy new one = no money.

I can imagine out of all the people (all around the world, including regular consumers) that buy mechanical keyboards, only a tiny tiny fractions are hardcore people like us.  So they'd rather make a bit more money than push a bit more quality.  Unless they are Filco, or Topre lol.

Yeah... at first, i was all excited...

"OMFG LOGITECH MECH!!11!1"

Judging by looks alone, i personally think it looks good.

However...

It certainly does not conform to my preference for minimalist form-factor.

I mean... i might as well just go with the gigabyte aivia osmium. :/

I would love to see the g710 in a 60% version (or at least an "HTK"), with maybe a small macro cluster and some media keys on the top (which i guess would technically make it more of a 65-70%). Maybe an "M-row" above the F-row.

I would absolutely go with a mechanical g13 (wishwishwish) and a Pure, instead of this g710.

"Needless to say..."
I'm not exactly excited anymore.

One one hand: i want to "vote with my wallet," and encourage logitech to keep making mechs... so that maybe they'll get it right, someday.
On the other hand: i don't want to encourage them to keep making this.

me-to-logitech: "Son - i am disappoint."

Kinda feels like i just found out that hot, intelligent, sophisticated geek gamer chick... is actually just a dumb lazy skank. :(

Logitech should just come out with a standalone small gaming lcd we can set at the top of our keyboards.  Maybe throw in a volume knob and some media keys.  For a while I was using my G13 just to monitor fps and gpu temps but never touched any of the keys.

The LCD is a gimmick, I thought it'd be awesome, but then when I got my G15, I realized that there's no freaking time to "look down" at it.

Yeah... idk how many of you have spent significant time w/ mmo's, but... I'm already tired of staring at my "cooldowns," no way would i need any "lcd display" to make me spend even more time not looking at the actual game. I for one am glad they didn't put an LCD on this board.

Looking at the cooldown menu is literally 1/4 of the game. ;D

1) nor do you "need" TWO "enter" directly adjacent.
2) I often use both backspace and delete, together!

I'll put the cursor right between 2 things i want gone, and slap both keys at the same time, like a boss... and then i feel like a Sir.

a few people i know didn't like the g510 cause of the screen.. I like the idea of some of the features that come with this that's similar to the g510, e.g - the volume wheel, media keys that DON'T USE Fn (Thank god!) But then again i'm not too fond of the macro keys (But hey some people need em') It seems a bit fat too and the colour scheme doesn't seem to be working too well. (The random orange area at least). But i do enjoy the fact its cherry mx browns! :D

I like macro keys and Logitech's firmware in general. It would be great if macro is hardware based. Also, it would be awesome if the volume wheel can also be used as scroll wheel.

a few people i know didn't like the g510 cause of the screen.. :D
I don't know: If they had 24 dedicated media keys at the top and two rows of 5 dedicated macro keys on the side there, it'd look awesome.

You can even make it TKl for People who like tiny keyboards.

I presume I am right in saying that Logitech has never released a mechanical board? I always wondered if they would.

It's like, I want to be excited that Logitech is finally entering the mechanical market, but then every time I try to use a cherry board these days, my fingers end up hurting. So...."meh". Guess I'm just spoiled by my Topres
