Have you ever met any Geekhacker(s) in real life?
« on: Mon, 22 April 2013, 22:34:56 »
Just so we can get to know each other better.

Demik
I still remember first time I met him.  He was pretty quiet but got more and more chatty on subsequent meet-ups.  A really nice guy once you get to know him.  He's someone you'd want on your side if you ever get into a fight (online, on the street, etc, although I'm not so sure about the street part since he might bail first lol).

Sherryton
I think he felt a little akward the first time we met (or maybe it was just my imagination) but gotten better when we met up more and more.  Despite his absent on the forum and not returning emails, pm's, etc, he's still a very nice guy in person.  Soft-spoken, doesn't talk a lot (but can definitely be chatty at times).  I think he and I have similar taste in fine dinning.  He told me about Umami burger so I went and tried it out, it was great!  I know some people in his GB's are probably mad at him but I'm sure he has his reason for being absent (he's also quite young).

Litster
A very nice person.  He drove all the way from Irvine just to meet up with us when he was in Cali.  A very intelligent person, soft-spoken (despite his online trolling lol).

Hashbaz
Heh, first time we met I was having a hard time finding him.  He was waiting outside the hotel where he was staying (here on a business trip) and I was waiting inside around the hotel's lobby.  A very fun guy to be around with and since he's working at one of the major film studios, he has a lot of cool stories to tell.

mkawa
Kawa wasn't whom I would expect when we first met.  He chats a lot more in person than online.  :)   He's very friendly and knowledgeable on a lot of subject (cars, keyboards, nuclear diffusion, etc).  I've also met with his younger brother and his friend.  A nice bunch of young folks there.

BiNiaRiS
kawa and I drove all the way to meet up with him and his g/f somewhere far (forgot where).  A very cool guy with lots of connections (with friends in China to get those hard-to-find keyboards/keycaps for him lol).  A very fun guy to be around.  He has a lot of stories to tell.  If you buy something from him, it can take up to a year to ship..  just ask demik about that.  ;D

ClickClack
I offered to pick up some of his keycaps in person since I believe he isn't very far from where I live but he politely declined so I repect his privacy and haven't asked again since (although I would like to meet him in person one day just to be able to shake the hands that carve/create the molds for those keycaps that we all come to love and collect).

There are quite a few more that I would like to meet (tsangan, WhiskerBox, jcrouse, mmmty and the entire mod/admin team just to name a few).  Please post yours below.

I've met quite a few at the meetup. It was really fun, but I didn't get there early enough to get a good reading of everyone I met. The least I can say is they were all really nice!

Yes. I wrote a little bit about the guys I met in Chicago here.

And I met Mashby at MechanicalKeyboards.com.  He was pretty outgoing and a lot of fun. Plus he talked A LOT, which surprised me. Most importantly? He knows good food :D

I'm meeting the Moose himself soon as well.

I met jdcarpe in person. He's just as nice and generous in person as he is here. He even came with a gift. Thanks again. :)

And as CPT mentioned, we have plans to meet up.

Being that I travel a lot, I was considering creating a thread to show where I'm going next and see if anyone is around there who'd like to meet up.

We haven't come up with an exact month yet, but we'll get an interest thread going and see who all is interested in going and when would be the best time overall for everyone.
