I probably didn't get into the Black Bird GB even though I was watching for it all night until I went to bed :(

It already filled up?

Well, apparently Duck GBs fill up super fast and I didn't sign up until it had been open for like 12 hours so yeah, I'm assuming so.

That'd be cool, but if I have low expectations than I won't be disappointed but I might be happily surprised!

I want my cat to come home and be alright.

I hope your cat gets better. :(

I don't own one myself right now for a few reasons but a neighbor had a really friendly cat whom I absolutely loved.  Would come by everyday to greet me and ask for belly rubs..  But then the neighbor moved away and so did the cat.. :'(

Someone turned the heat on in my side of the office over the weekend and now its ~88F inside, the other half of the office is only ~74F.

Lucky you!

It's the middle of winter over here and the office heating is broken again.

Umm...

I just checked the weather in Melbourne.  It's 80degF+ currently.  Why in the hell would you turn on the heat??  That's my threshold for turning on the AC...

This must be some strange Aussie joke.

Edit: Oops, that was Melbourne, FL.  :))  Never mind me... Carry on!   :-[

Um, yeah.  It got to about 10ºC yesterday, which is about 50ºF.

I don't mind the cold usually, anything under 10 is jacket weather, but throw strong gusty wind and nearly horizontal rain into the mix and things start to get nasty.

My umbrella passed away the day before yesterday, although it managed to get me safely, if damply, home first.

Today my sore throat is worse, so I've skipped a 20-30 minute walk in 8 degrees and spending the day in a cold office with no heating to work from home.

Currently alternating between throat lozenges and heated beverages.

It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Jeez I just checked the down under weather, I thought you were kidding around! Damn hope it clears up soon. I've had my fair share of being in the rain during the winter and I hated it

It's winter in Melbourne, maybe a little worse than the last couple of years, perhaps as a side effect of el nino or whatever that weather thing was that caused hotter than average temperatures.

researching my cancer a bit more and found out my survival rate is lower than i thought, 40% instead of my initial thought of 60%

That's ... a little disturbing.  More than a little.  I sincerely hope you are in the 40%!

+1 for speedy recovery of kitteh :)

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Always a red flag when they ask for your SS# and their rerouted 'local' phone number shows up as a call center in India.

I haven't had them but I know quite a few people who get them often, definitely sounds like the pain is next level ****.  Hopefully it passes soon though man.

If it does happen often enough, I think I've got a funding idea for you.  Just get into artisan crafting and you can imbed the stones into your artisans to make them collectors items!  You could even call them demikidney kaps!

No way to tell for sure on size..  it may or may not break up.

Vinegar/Pickles/Kimchi. Vinegar is good for cleaning mineral build up from sinks and **** too. Just sayin' ;)

This is one of those folk remedy deals.. we don't know if it really works..

Even if it did work,  It's something that'd take months..

I'm not sure our demik can eat a month of kimchi....

Well I have insurance now. But I know what's gonna happen as I go through this **** every other month so I'll save myself time and money.

You get kidney stones every other month?

Wait, do you just have one large one, and it's breaking up as you go ?

How does this work ?

Works for me Mr. TP.

Florida has hard water and for every salad I eat I get +5 kidney stone removal points. Yeah, I'm definitely not saying go on a vinegar bender -- but over time it works for some of us.

My refrigerator only stays at around 44 - 46 so all my dairy products go bad really fast. I was gonna have fettuccine left over, then I got a mouth full of surprise mold.
