I'm depressed ... probably clinically. I had a birthday a month ago, which sucked. I am disappointed and frustrated at my job. The new Star Wars trailer is disappointing. I am overweight and unfit. I read a very depressing series of fantasy books. I signed up for volunteer work and got too much work heaped on me. All of which contributed to my sucky mood.
I had a bought with the depression when I was younger. Looking back on it, the most helpful thing I did for myself was to pick one small activity and do it everyday, no matter what. For me, I would go out to get coffee. Just go to a coffee shop to get a cup and then come home to drink it. Sometimes I wouldn't even go in, I'd use the drivethru. I also would rotate through a few different places since I didn't like the idea of being a regular, and therefore being known. I think it was the routine that made it work for me. Routine was purpose, and purpose was good. And that it was something that was really just for me.
Don't be afraid to go to a doctor for help too. Nothing wrong with getting your noggin right. You'll be happier in the long run.
Try looking for a doctor that has equipment to do a Brain Scanner.. (Yes they have them now)
The issue is, if they just ask you a bunch of questions, they really can't tell 'For sure" if your problems are a" physical manifestation" (suppressed brain area, tumor, clotting, etc) , or a product of "life style choice" (exercise, occupational hazard, bad peer influence."
Many practitioners are pressured by both pharmacom and Clients themselves, to prescribe drug treatment.
Now, if your issue isn't a drug treatable problem, the drugs would only introduce a greater, possibly irreversible chemical imbalance..
So, if you do decide to go to a doctor, go to a REAL doctor with equipment and NOT the typical psyche-Quackers
