It bothers me that this thread might get locked again by the time I find something that bothers me.

If I told you I think yellow is hideous would that bother you?

Nope - 'cause that would mean moar yellow for me! :D
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Family drama about Thanksgiving. Everyone has their own ideas, and I just want boring old sitting at home watching football and eating my dad's famous stuffing. Stop trying to expand my horizons.

Come visit me in lovely upstate New York. You can eat Chinese food, watch football, and let my dog adorably assult you.

Or come to SE WI and pig out on some kickass green bean casserole and pie!  Oh and I guess we have turkey too.

And you can watch the Pack stomp the **** out of the Bears right here in the land of the Green and Gold.

Haha, what did I say that was unlike Eric Forman?  :))  Unless that's a comment about the Packers' performance in the 70s.

My beard.  Its been 7 months now, and it gets tangled a lot.  It doesn't help that I am messing with it every time I do work at my computer.  Think I might give it a trim, but it is good length right now.  :-\

Carpal tunnel syndrome.

All I can do is to meow sadly :(
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

This sounds pretty much exactly like my work day today as well. Only replace Twitch with music at loud volumes.

You know it!

I have a sign up on my cubicle wall, and another on my chair that says "If I have headphones on, I can't hear you". My boss often comes into my cube and starts flailing his arms about when he gets annoyed I can't hear him. I'm like man - read the signs, they are there for your benefit, not mine!

Once when I was on a help desk I was told I couldn't listen to music at work. It was "scaring off" the people who needed help.  This was before the earbud days, so when I had the music turned up pretty much everyone could hear it. Nothing I listen to is that bad. I don't get what all the fuss was about.

Because there is nothing more annoying than hearing what only seems to be faint hums of music coming from someone else. You sit there trying to actually listen and attempt to figure out what it is... but you can't because it is just too muffled. It is distracting because you are trying to tune in. That bothers the **** out of me.

You need to mind your business!

Seriously thought, there are no "faint hums" when being around me. It was basically full volume. Me getting reprimanded for it probably had more to do with HR hearing the F bomb 16 times during their 3 minute Help Desk visit.  :))

I do try to be more considerate of others now that I have a cubicle. The Help Desk job was in a separate room, if you have ever seen The IT Crowd, it was pretty much that.

I'm bothered by how stupid the student government at my Alma mater is.
Quote
The student government rejected a resolution for a moment of recognition on future anniversaries of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the grounds it would create an 'unsafe' space on campus.

One student representative said holding a moment of recognition over a tragedy committed by non-white perpetrators could increase racist attitudes on campus.

Yeah, I'm with you there. That is pretty stupid. The logic on that one makes no sense at all. We should forget all the bad things that happened rather that invite a conversation about it. Sure, that sounds like a great plan.

Rejecting a moment of recognition for a tragedy due to the race of the perpetrators sounds pretty racist to me. But I'm sure that guy is already getting enough heat for what he said, misquoted or not.

You think it was easy to pump Cube in 6th grade in a gigantic school with ALL white kids? Life was hard for a thug.

Also, I love Nirvana, but kids were playin' it out.

Rejecting a moment of recognition for a tragedy due to the race of the perpetrators sounds pretty racist to me. But I'm sure that guy is already getting enough heat for what he said, misquoted or not.

From the content of the article, it doesn't appear to be a misquote - but then again, I'm not one to blindly trust "the media" anyway, so who knows.  ;)

I just remember days of the walkman and those ****ty foam covered headphones. I'm tryna listen to Ice Cube while all these fools have Nirvana blasting.

Your problem is that you would rather listen to Ice Cube than Nirvana.

You think it was easy to pump Cube in 6th grade in a gigantic school with ALL white kids? Life was hard for a thug.

Also, I love Nirvana, but kids were playin' it out.

So you're just a rebel.

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

I'm bothered by how stupid the student government at my Alma mater is.

The student government rejected a resolution for a moment of recognition on future anniversaries of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the grounds it would create an 'unsafe' space on campus.

Ahh, good catch.  Curious why he wouldn't explain himself further.

At least my car is finally seeing some miles.

I am about to have a major repair (timing belt + water pump) and I desperately wish that my car was seeing less miles.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

When it rains, it pours......

My mother was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and she's been prepping for radioactive iodine treatment in the next week.

I just found out a few moments ago that my dad's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; my work problems seem so insignificant now.
