I'm bothered by politics and the constant "us vs. them" mindset that people have to hold even about the most stupid things =/

Good thing this  is a keyboard forum  ;D :llama:

Rectangular keyboards suck..

You're all stupid heads for using them..

Stupid phone wouldn't update, so I had to take it to AT&T to update manually. The only way they could do it was to wipe my phone completely. I thought by syncing everything into my computer I'd be able to restore everything, but nope. It's like nothing ever stored.

as long as u got your contacts, it's not so bad.

Property investors.

There's two adjacent houses down the road for sale.

Then one block with two houses on it, both in a state of disrepair.

Then our (rented) house.

Then an old guy whose house is falling apart.

My other half had a visit from a property investor today who wanted to know if our house was for sale, as he wants to buy all adjacent blocks, raze all the houses, and build a cluster of town houses.

Worst case we'll be kicked out if our landlord decides he'd prefer $1M+ in his pocket than to stand by his tenants.  Best case we'll have a huge building site next door for a year, and then the road blocked by cars and even more noise all day and night for ever after.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hard drive failure.

I lost a major one.  My backups are old, and I have made a lot of changes on things since then.  I have no clue what caused the failure.  One day, it worked and I was getting work done.  The next day, poof, the partition tables were gone.  I've been running diagnostics and saving what I can from it for about 24 hours now.

The tex files I lost are easy enough to piece together from what I can pull off with photorec and testdrive.  That was the major work I lost.  Most of the other stuff for my work related things aren't essential, and have good backups.

However, the Alps Party documents are currently missing.  Excel files are hard to grep into and find.  I think this drive held the only copies of my Alps Party paperwork.  If I can't recover that by tax time, I'm FUUUUUUUCKED.

If you've already run the basic diags and can't restore your data, I've heard good things about these guys but it won't be cheap. That sucks dude, I hope it works out.

http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am way too poor for that.  I'm not sure what they could do either.  I have the data off of the drive.  The problem is that the data are extremely fragmented and often make no sense.  I found half of one of my BibTeX files in a file named foobar.java.  The other half was in a .txt file.  I'd be willing to bet that a paid service would only get me as far as I already am.  And it sucks.

According to what testdrive told me, and what parted and dosfsck confirmed, is that there were two partitions on top of each other.  I have no clue how that could have happened.  Pulling things out of the drive involved 'undeleting' things that were covered by the second partition of the same files.  It makes no damn sense.  I almost want to throw up my arms and proclaim it an unrecoverable cluster****, but I know I need to try.

The drive was full of other files that are junk to me.  I used it as a backup for another drive.  All that backup stuff is confusing what I do have from the restoration.  Right now, the major concern are the Alps Party documents.  Since most of that was stored in a series of .xlsx files, I can see if I have the correct one.  Unfortunately, there are literally thousands of spreadsheets on this drive.  So what I'm doing now is batch converting everything to csv, hoping I can grep something that says "alps party"

People suck at driving.

Today I was at a red light when it turned green. I could see the grey-haired guy in a mustang in front of me was distracted with something in his passenger seat so I gave him a good 3-4 seconds before a tiny honk to let him know to go. Would you believe this asshat stuck his hand out the window and flicked me off? I give him a heads up to not waste 20+ people's time and i'm the bad guy.

What would you do? I held my horn down for a solid 10 seconds since he seemed to not like it

There are a lot of short lights in my area. Being asleep at the wheel for 3 seconds can cost 10 people an opportunity to get through.

Yes, it can be OK but there are dangers from water-borne germs getting deep into your sinuses. Don't do it often or unnecessarily.

I thought that the State of Kansas had gone off the hook with its new law making it easy to impeach judges.

They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Yes, it can be OK but there are dangers from water-borne germs getting deep into your sinuses. Don't do it often or unnecessarily.

It's okay, the chances of contracting the super dangerous ones are incredibly low.

Piecemeal. Like potato chips. Or Cheetos afaik

I was confused as I was looking in the Artisan section at 10 and nothing was there after F5ing a bunch, then I switched to the Keys section and there were two options on the second page.  I thought I checked out with one from there but then went back to the Artisan section to other ones scattered about there :(

Just use 2.7% or higher salt concentration, it wipes out bacteria.  If you can handle rinsing with higher, beats antibiotics most times.  Do it once a day for a week and will probably flush out any infections.
It is true that salt water fishers get less colds/sinus infections.
