No wait, I have one. Every fighting game ever. You destroy the game on the hardest difficulty, none of your friends want to play with you because you win every time. Then you go online and get your ass torn off and shoved up the bloody stump-hole where your freshly torn off ass used to be. Over and over again. Every fighting game ever.

Play Final Fantasy VII when it comes out and avoid as many random fights as possible because no sense of leveling/jrpg... Get to first or second Jenova boss fight as level 14... Keep dying... No clue why I'm so weak. Still eventually beat it. Thinking back, I don't even know how I got through those boss fights at such low levels. Probably why I enjoyed them so much because of the challenge. Always beat bosses with near death status. I love you, Phoenix Down.

That was the first game to really teach me persistence, so ****ing hard.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Yeah, dood. Jrpg's required a lot of patience from young teenagers. But after Suikoden 1-2, FF VII-IX, Xenogears, Breath of Fire, etc... They became way addicting... Still lovem today but don't have as much time to dedicate anymore :'(

Lololololol! I could never! Diablo 1 had me raging and having me scared at the same time... I still remember the first time I heard, "Ahhh, fresh meat."

... Pants were shat in.

I also will have to repurchase Diablo II if I want to play again, but for a different reason.  I bought it for a dollar at a garage sale and my dad saw it, said it was too violent, and confiscated it...  :|

Hahahahahahhaha....

I think most of the games are indeed too violent...

and if you play enough of them at an early age WITHOUT parents to put them into context..  it could give  children a very wrong message..<- this is unlikely though.

But would Battlefield be so well-selling if it were Tag-field?  cuz that's honestly what you're playing...

as a long time RPG fan... I've decided to never _PLAY_ an RPG, ever again..

WHY?  it's so much easier watching other people play it.. skip the grindy bits..  acquire plot... Move on...   AND you don't even have to pay for the game... AND you don't have to buy new hardware...

LOL...

I didn't realize that I have to manually change gears in the drag races in NFSU2... I was stuck at that race for a long time, wondering why everytime my engine blew up. And you had to do it to get any further races and I belive it was about the 4th race of the game :-X

In my defence I was ~9 years old :))

Diablo 2, on dialup.  write down my ip, log off and call kenny.  log back in.  spent about 20 minutes until we figured out what the hell was going on. XD  eventually used a neighbor's phone to communicate until game connection.
before that, Diablo,  entering a pvp game and not hacking my character stats.
Rainbow Six 3 xbox, team survival, team kill enabled, pulled a grenade at the spawn.
The Sims,  didn't make 'hamster' families in the neighborhood.  Those poor unsocial pixel people, they ended up hating the stock families.  there were 3 stock families, right?
WoW wrath era,  put talent points all over the board instead of investing in one tree.  got to 50 before i realized what i was doing.
that's all i can think of right now... pretty sure there's been more
EDIT:  one more right away, Tekken,  that brazillian capoiera guy, i thought he was 'technical' for like 3 weeks.  was so disappointed when i finally realized he was a button mash type.  maybe the denial was too thick.

When I was young I didn't know you could use the mouse to aim in games. So I played MechWarrior 2 and Half-Life 1 by only moving with arrows and using keyboard only. I was finding some way to be still efficient at it, but if I had known sooner lol...

BTW MechWarrior 2 was such an awesome game!

Also, I almost never completed an RGP game. I like RPG games a lot, but every time I play one, I progress and at some point, not too far from the end of the game, I decide I want so start another character to test a different build/class/whatever. So I only remember completing Final fantasy 9 and Baldur's Gate 1 (and maybe 1 or 2 other). I never completed Baldur's gate 2 but I have played it quite a lot!

I think it was when I tried to play Mechwarrior 4, every time I tried to load up games or join I couldn't do it due to a firewall. At the time, I didn't really understand all that (DMZ, port forwarding) and ended up using some satellite internet connection. Slower, but got the job done  :p

hey what armor sets do you use?

I stopped at halo 2..  so none of that stuff is relevant..

I didn't make the switch to halo 3, because I joined PC-race soon after xbox 1..

and I stupidly bought a ps3 for fighting games.. cuz i was into them at the time... sigh.......

Really wish they'd port over halo 3 to PC... god I want that game more than anything else...

If someone is a PC gamer, the solution to their problem is not to buy a console...      I have Halo on 360 and never play it because the controls are so goofy.  Never understood why so many people like controllers for shooters.

And this is why I play like a noob whenever I try to use console.

:))  I played Halo something or another (came out like two years ago) with my buddy online the other week, and I killed my teammates soooo many times...  There's no twitch aiming, it's all slow and weird.  Not to mention the other controller oddities.  I was absolutely awful.  I wouldn't have been much better at the game on PC because they added all those weird things to it (jetpacks??? super shields that hurt the attacker?? wut?), but still.  It made it really frustrating to play.

it's not just that though..

in PC FPS  you can charge forward almost always..

on Xbox, there's alot of diagonal pathing, and backing up for wider angles..

So overall the pacing is dramatically different...

A player who has not been exposed to both platforms can not easily switch between the two.

You know what really grinds my gears? It's that after all this time, SHIFT is still the default run key for FPS games. As if I want to bend my pinky back in an inhuman way constantly.

Maybe I am crazy but I don't see that issue. However, as a fair note I am a strange one and never used the home row for typing so my fingers are used to being all over the place.

If I rest my left hand out flat I can have my pinky on shift and other fingers on A,W,D, and the spacebar. During actual gameplay my fingers are obviously inclined so I can press down on the keys with my fingertips but there is no crazy inhuman bending or anything going on. Also, some games are starting to adopt double-tapping forward to run.

My favorite design is having it be toggelable run/walk, so you never have to hold it. Same deal with CTRL being the default crouch button. If I weren't so lazy I'd probably switch caps lock and shift on the PCB.

I think that MMO mouse with a bunch of side buttons is ideal for gaming..

more buttons the better.
