Here is the most interesting way to describe my job: I take the incomprehensible babble of government bureaucrats, lawyers, engineers, and scientists, while accounting for the concerns of the regulated community, and turn their most heart-felt desires for effective environmental regulation into understandable, legally defensible regulatory language that will enforce existing environmental laws while sparing the fine businesses establishments of Indiana with over-burdensome requirements.
I also use the night hours to do unspeakable things in the fragrant, lonely alleys of my metropolitan area. Really it's where my sign language club meets.
Without people like me, the world would spiral into environmental catastrophe, humans would start dying in droves, and civilization as we know it would collapse. So pay your taxes and thank your bureaucrat.
Janitor/maintenance for a small school district full time, also manage networks for a few small businesses and do a bit of data recovery and pc/electronics repairs on the side. In the summer I also install paver patios and retaining walls on the side.
Geekhack's jackalope-of-all-trades.
I have a few businesses but I'm primarily a nonfiction writer.
