You should've gone with a pcie ssd riser card, and used the x16 slot with x4 bandwidth to get pcie2.0x4 which is still 1.5gb/s and supports all the usually ssd stuff.

but probably today, but then maybe not.

Having experienced traffic in New Jersey firsthand, I can believe it.

Michael Wolff says he urged Epstein to release information he had on Trump, but Epstein appeared worried about what Trump would do to him.
Epstein told him, “I may be a pervert, but I’m not crazy.” Epstein continued, "Trump is a man without any scruples.”

Like, the cables are not white, they're purple. More violet than purple, a very gawdy lifelessly toxic kind of white.

Tp4 is looking for a near beige, regal kind of white. The white of the snow that covers a recently storm broken tree trunk.

The total deep clean and rebuild took 14hrs. Exponentially less time than it would've taken to build it new, but MUCH less money.

I'm a little upset I cannot get my 4x32Gb to work on the Sabertooth Z77, everything I read said 32Gb was totally possible with the latest BIOS update. LIES! I can only get 16Gb to post without the MEMOK going red

Temps are on average 40-50°F cooler across all cores (how is that in C 4.4-10°? is that correct? seems like a weird gap, crazy Europeans)

This is a huge problem even culturally.  The uneducated masses will prefer the trashy whites, because they have little reference other than that it's an unlikely color, therefore desirable.

Sup guys, it's been a while!

Looking to build a new rig, with these as the core components:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/5007086/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d,-msi-x870e-p-pro-wifi,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle

Swapping the GSkill for Corsair VENGEANCE RGB, with the plan to get an MSI VENTUS RTX 5070 Ti as the GPU. Probably a 1TB Samsung 9100 PRO for the OS and a cheaper 4TB NVMe for storage.

Any other recommendations? PSU/cooler/case?

No, bad build.

Get the 9700x $460 upgraded motherboard bundle. That motherboard is good for future zen6 upgrades.

The 9800x3d makes minimal difference unless you play esports at 720p. You can get it if you're RICH.

Anything 1440p and above, you're GPU bound. 9800x3d price difference can be put towards GPU

There are PNY 5080 going for $1000 at bestbuy now and then, get that instead of the 5070ti.

The 9700x is more than enough for now, and ZEN 6 is going to be 7.4-7.8GHZ  it will absolutely surpass the 9800x3d.

1TB is not enough.  You want 4TB WD 7100. OR wait for sale and get a 4TB with Dram, like SN850x for $205 used.

Tp4 just got one, 0 writes, brand new amazon return.

PSU lasts a long time, would go for the best, like LEADEX VII XG 850 or 1000.  Most stable voltage regulation and ripple suppression. They have a history of low-coil-whine due to very strong leadex platform. Not all leadex are the same, VII is what you want.

All gpus have coil whine, but really Bad coil whine is mostly due to PSU.

Cards in general is a minefield amazon or not.

Used SSDs that are NOT samsung are ok. Samsung has the most faker write data smurfing.

Memory is ok usually, as long as they haven't been thrown in a bin where the chips crack.

You want Amazon for motherboards for the easy return policy. Newegg is terrible regarding bent pins.  It's a high warranty item that can be put back on the shelf.

You want an authorized dealer for your SSD, particularly Samsung, same with GPU because Amazon will sell foreign market models and reject your warranty. Well, not reject but make you do the warranty overseas which is tough if you don't speak the language. I do buy Crucial drives from Amazon.

On my last system I bought my GPU local and the rest from Amazon (no ssd).

I had one super bent pin on the used mobo I just swapped into. Tried bending it back and it snapped like an old dry hair. I clipped a pin off my old P867, VERY carefully at the base, and used a pinhole attachment for my heatgun to loosen the solder around the broken one just barely enough to where it was pliable and with extreme frustration and infinite patience, was able to hold the doner pin long enough to solidify. I seated the cpu and prayed - and it posted! The process took nearly 2hrs, and most of that was trying to figure out a way to get the doner pin to stand up in it's new home. NEVER again.

I think it is permanent, if the cpu is ever removed it will destroy the socket

Yoyo, just got a KTC H32S25E gmrn' monitor. 32inch, 2560x1440
It were on sale, for $250.

Crazy good for the price these days.  VA, 240hz, PFS wide gamut colors,

Measured 4100:1 contrast out of the box in 5500k > red shifted. At 6500k, Tp4 measures 3630:1, very respectable for monitors of this type, since we usually only get ~2800-3000ish.

The motion quality, not as good as ips, but nothing like the smearing we saw in the past va-panels.

it has 1000mm curvature, Very nice looking up close.

The image quality for anything other than absolute competitive fps is stellar, Far in excess of what IPS can do with its crappy 1000 to 1500:1 grey black contrast.

KTC is not known in the west, but it's a Huge brand in Asia.

Why are they so stingy with the usbc ports?

How much can these chips possibly cost?

Here you go... 10 Type C ports.

Well.. blessing in disguise maybe,  what has broadband really done, produced incongruent members of society such as Tp4.

Not worth the tradeoff. Let's just not have dat internet.

Michael Wolff says he urged Epstein to release information he had on Trump, but Epstein appeared worried about what Trump would do to him.
Epstein told him, “I may be a pervert, but I’m not crazy.” Epstein continued, "Trump is a man without any scruples.”

Tp4 is genuinely impressed by KTC H32S25E.

After a few days with it,  everything works, the colors look good.

Yellow is a little weak due to the weaker Green primary. Green is fine, because there isn't that much saturated bright green used in content.  If you want stronger yellow on lcd you need quantum dots, and currently only samsung does it, and it's gon' be $800.

Would it be better if it were 4K 240hz, yea... but you need a very expensive driver for that, and it wouldn't be $250.

1440p 240hz is gud'nuff for general gaming.

Would you be better served by a "Smaller" Oled for $500ish, Honestly, NO, 27" is just too small these days. there's no reason to squint or sit so close to smaller monitors when 32" is $250.

Really, Do Not buy anything under 32" for any reason.

Unpopular opinion.

White CPU COOLERS look really bad paired with white cases/white motherboards.

The correct choice is, SILVER.

Nzxt h7 flow (2024)

6x 140mm, 1x f360 3-fan (came with case), 1x 120mm top right,

Scythe Mugen 6 cpu cooler. + 1x arctic p12 pro 3000rpm cpu fan.

The new p12pro is decent, its quiet relative to its rpm, but also of course, it's a very low cfm fan like its earlier cousins.

Heads up, Dramless drives seem more sensitive to cpu/ram instability, leading to write corruption.

I bought a SSD off Amazon as new and it had a photo of a woman's passport, birth certificate, and family photos already on it.
WTF Amazon! It was sealed and everything, but the bracket holes were all scratched up when I opened it, so I checked it and, oh boy...
good thing I'm not evil

Spent all night calibrating the colors.

Set white point to D93

Balanced ram stick colors, white is brighter than yellow. You have to lower the white to match the exact brightness of the yellow.  Can't do that without the colorimeter.

Cpu fan and Gpu plate + Ram + case fans all color matched.

TBH, they really need to fix this stupid color system.  Most of the manufacturers don't have any coordination, and they all use ridiculous white points.

I'm honestly not sure why Red Channel is so low, why blue pulls power from red even if red is well within the envelope.

Yellow is a big problem, because of the way the green led pulls on the red channel, you can only get it so yellow, if you want it brighter, the yellow turns GREEN.

Kinda bummed that the 120mm up top right is slightly bluer than the 140mm. Same brand fan, slightly different color. The nzxt f360 is slightly bluer as well, but that's understandable, different manufacturer.

Ideally, every fan would have its own color channel. Buhhhhhhhhhhh..

good thing I'm not evil

A few years ago I read about someone who bought a used hard drive and discovered that it had come from an ATM.

Not wiped, and full of accounts, card numbers, and  PINS !

Honestly this was always a problem, but it seems to have gotten worse over the years with volume production.

Fan, Sticker-Wobble.

It happens when they don't put the front sticker in the middle, at low rpm, it looks like a big googly eye shaking left and right.

Pain in the butt to fix, as you might ruin the sticker peeling it.  :-X

Tp4 has official given up on IPS.

There's no justification outside of Esp0art, every other aspect of IPS looks -Drab.

Even Within
most IPS gaming monitors, their backlight strobing is tuned so poorly that the advantage in motion clarity is minimal.

This is very weird that they don't make 32" curved at 4K 240hz LCD monitors.

Probably at this point, people own a 4090+ and spring for the OLEDs at $1000.

Since the control boards for 4k240 is quite expensive, it exists at a point where it nearly directly competes with oleds on price while making little profit for being LCD.

RAM listed specifically on my mobo's QVL still won't post
this has been 3 out of 4 different stick sets that do not work that should
very frustrating, this mobo is too picky and has no modern bios drivers for compatibility

Check the ram in a different pc, it's probably busted.

These things get tossed around in the bin, especially old sticks of ram.

Tp4's new Gskills royal wurks gud though,  Gskill in general is pretty gud.  Unless is the samsung ics,  the lastest aren't as fast as hynix.

Sams haven't been in the lead for a while now.  Hynix A-die been beating everyone.

Tp4 is officially, ANTI -gam3r laptop.

It's just unreasonable.  You can't actually game on battery, so it's not really a gaming laptop. It's a regular laptop. and a "low-end" gaming desktop, that also happens to require babying the heatsink/fan, or the processor/gpu desolders itself, Not being hyperbolic, that Literally happens over time if the fans aren't pristine.

What they should do, is release a laptop with 175 watts cooling all dedicated to a CPU w/ integrated gpu.

THEN, sell a portable GPU that has pcie 5.0 X8,  Perfect.  No compromise.

In general though, 7-10lb laptops + the power brick, it's just too much weight.
