People who get promotions because they are ****ing the boss. That pisses me right the **** off. Especially when they go around saying "I hope no one thinks I got this job because I'm sleeping with the boss."

So mad right now  >:D >:D >:D

Maybe you should start ****ing your boss.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Some unlicensed, teenaged driver, who was texting slammed into the drivers side of my husbands car this morning. All the air bags went off, the entire side was crushed in. The insurance company just called to tell us it is totaled. He LOVED that car. He worked for over a year saving money just so he could buy it. We've had it probably 9 months and now it is just gone. He is more or less okay. His shoulder is all marked up from the air bags and his back hurts. I think his heart hurts more...that poor car. I have no idea how we are going to replace it.  :'(

RIP Cadillac CTS-V

The big downside to driving an older car is that you are always cheated in a "total" wreck.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Damn :( Are the insurance company not going to give you money to replace it? I've seen the CTS-V, and I oddly want to own one...

The problem is there's a limit on most people's uninsured motorist insurance coverage, and then there's the "what's the insurance company going to say the car's worth" question.

They are, but it took 8 months to find the one that we had, and we had to have it shipped from half way across the country just to get it here. These cars are hard to find, particularly when you factor in trying to get a CPO warranty. Insurance companies are notorious for paying out less than the actual value of a car and making the process arduously slow. As it is the fastest we could get a check would be a week. And that is if we agree to their appraisal of the car. That damn girl that was texting and driving better have learned her lesson. I'm so mad.

The big downside to driving an older car is that you are always cheated in a "total" wreck.

I honestly was surprised at how quickly they totaled it. As soon as we said their air bags went off they were like, well, it's totaled! They didn't even look at it to make the determination. He kept saying to them "but it's a newer car, it has value!" and it was all "nope, totaled". He really didn't want his car to be totaled. But, really it is probably for the better, since we all know after a major accident a car is never the same, and the value takes a nose dive. There is so much that goes into buying a car, and I don't need that **** right now. Financially or otherwise. But what can you do.

So far, from what I can tell, you are pretty cheated when it is new(er) car too. Maybe I'll be proven wrong and they will give us what we feel is a fair value. I'm not looking for something that isn't fair here; I don't want more than what the car is worth, just what the actual value is. But the one time I had this happen before getting a fair appraisal was a struggle. And that car was only worth about $4k!

That really sucks. I rode along when my brother test-drove a CTS-V. Fun car. If the owner wasn't such an insanely heavy smoker he likely would have bought it.

It is a fun car. Not super practical, but fun. :) We bought it when there was still snow on the ground and that thing wouldn't move an inch with the tires it had on. For the first two months in just sat in our driveway taunting us. We finally put appropriate tires on it and had a blast driving it around. It was loud and fast, can't get much better than that. I was mad when he bought it because I thought it was too much money. It was a whole thing. Now I feel bad about that, I wish I hadn't fought him so much on it. Life lesson I suppose.

So glad you and the fam are okay, inanis. <3

Indeed. Everyone is unscathed, the kids were at school. :) He has some issues with his back and shoulder and neck that he is going to get checked out. From looking at the car though you wouldn't expect him to be walking around. I mean, the whole drivers side door was crushed in. He couldn't get out. It is a good thing cars have side impact airbags now, because without those, and all the safety glass things could have been much, much worse.

Ugh, that makes me so frustrated.  I'm glad to hear that at least everyone is okay at the very least, but still.  :(

Hopefully you guys manage to find something you're happy with to replace it, and that the insurance doesn't screw around.  :|

Coworker and I are goofing around.  Launch rubber band not really aiming at anything, aiming mostly at the wall.  She spins around to look.  Rubber band is laser guided into her eyelid.  She's fine, but have to have a talk with the supervisor tomorrow about horseplay in the workplace and made the supervisor do a lot of unnecessary work.  Probably going to lose stapler and rubber bands rights...well, maybe not, but who knows.  Bought the supervisor and coworker sorry for the eye and sorry for the paperwork wines.  Almost bought champagne, but decided it was a bad idea and I didn't want to be responsible for a second eye injury.

You take that back good sir! First of all, my CTS-V was a sedan, and I don't know of any Acura coupe that has 550hp stock.  This is worse than your thoughts on a wife!

Such bad luck! Why not send them some Dollys? Surely that will appease them more than wine. Oh, wait, no, don't send V1, that would be a jab surely! They would think you have the cheek to make fun of the situation, lol

He is more or less okay. His shoulder is all marked up from the air bags and his back hurts. I think his heart hurts more...that poor car. I have no idea how we are going to replace it.  :'(

RIP Cadillac CTS-V

I am glad your husband is OK, sucks about the car :( and the adjuster! Doesn't seem like they didn't want to do much if they just said totaled after you said the airbags deployed...when I wrecked my Suzuki the airbags never went off. I'm glad my car was deemed totaled, had some electrical problems to say the least...

My new car has a hands-free system, it's such a blessing. I refuse to use my phone at all anymore while driving since I freak out any time my eyes leave the road...that and South Carolina drivers are terrible. Worse than I-4 drivers...

Replacing the CTS-V seems like a task since I don't know of any other cars quite like it that are sedans. All of that horsepower  , maybe go coupe?

At a student event last night, dancing peacefully.
Someone bumps hard into me, I turn around and say "oh".
It's a bunch of vigils escorting a stretcher right in the middle of the dancefloor smh.
Vigil somehow get mad at me.
He drags me out of the place by grabbing my finger with a full hand.

Pretty sure my finger is broke, it hurts bad.

Vigils are like the guys who drive an ambulance?  Why would one of them assault you?  That's messed up dude. I can't possibly imagine how that was justified.

Google translation is failing me today, it was the security of the event. I guess I shouldn't have said "oh" but well.

Rubbing salt in the wound right there. At least I will have my Digilog tomorrow :)

Cool if you got that off of cooldiscretion, that one used to be mine as well.  Was really nice, I just don't like those colors personally.  My brother was sad when I let it go...

I did! It seems to have gone through the hands of a number of us here, which is kind of cool. I think this will be its last stop though, unless something really bad happens. I just love that thock too much. :)

Facility dumped one of my clients today to a hospital.  Claimed it was because the client had "chest pains" when it was the client's last day of Medicare paying for the bed.  Didn't call me or notify me (they have to) and I didn't learn of it until 4:45PM when the hospital called me even though it had happened at 7AM.  I'm sick and tired of clients being treated like **** due to not having premium insurance.

Tell me again why socialized medicine is a bad thing?
