the best way to get iron is to eat an animal, but there are veggies that are iron-rich, such as spinach, which are about 40-50% as good as a nice steak.
Not quite true, here are some iron content numbers for you...
Spinach: 3.6mg/100g
Top Sirloin Steak (broiled): 1.7mg/100g
Tenderloin Steak (broiled): 1.7mg/100g
Ribeye Steak (grilled): 2.2mg/100g
Chuck Eye Steak (grilled): 2.4mg/100g
Porterhouse (broiled): 3mg/100g
T-Bone Steak (broiled): 3.4mg/100g
So in fact Spinach has MORE iron than steak...
Other plant based sources of iron:
Peas: 2.1mg/100g
Green Beans: 1mg/100g
Beets: 0.8mg/100g
Broccoli: 0.7mg/100g
If you want some real iron, then go with some legumes.

Black Beans: 5mg/100g
... and so on ...
People just like to eat meat so they propagate the idea that it is super healthy. Meat is good, but it should really only be eaten in relatively small quantities compared to how much we eat as a society today. A plate should be max 1/4 meat and should have at least 1/2 be greens of some kind...
