Attack on Titan(Shingeki no Kyujin), only 25 episodes so far but easily one of my favourite animes already.
Deathnote, went into it thinking it was overhyped but man did it deliver! Did fall off somewhat storywise in the end but still a solid anime.
Cowboy Bebop, the only anime that I have actually watched dubbed. Awesome music, interesting characters and a soild story.

Ducky Mini w/ white LEDs [Browns]

WTB SLUSHY RED CC/BROBOT!!
Got 3D and Hack Orange for trade, both MX.

Fate/Zero
Darker than Black (teh S2 = noe)
Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Samurai champloo (my all time favorite)
Steins;Gate
Cowboy Bebop
Neon Genesis Evangelion (and all things associated with it)
Grave of the Fireflies (old Ghibli movie, I cried at the end.)

These are some more old-school anime. I don't like much of the newer stuff.

Nobody is reccomending Haruhi?

One of the best ever made anime XD
One can hate it but is simply genius.

If you are watching it make sure to watch the tv airing, is much better than the the dvd and the second recast

How has noone said Gurren Lagann?

this is a very solid anime, if you're a bit "OLDER"...  because young kids who are not reading between the lines, or do not have the pretext to do so would think the anime is just a crazy mish-mash..

It is a deep story that challenges you to reassess and evaluate what it means to be human, and where true limitations exist.

Watamote was really good imho... although it seems impossible that the character would be a girl in real life.. most likely a guy.

I like a bit more mature animes, and full metal alchemist just lost my interest after 10-15ish episodes.
Brotherhood any better in that regard?

Might aswell add Afro Samurai to the list I recommend aswell, just due to the art and the fighting.

An unsung hero to me is Black Jack (by Osamu Tezuka). It was written in the 70's and 80's, but its depth and story are simple incredible. I recommend it to anyone who likes even somewhat emotional stories, it's amazing.

there's a lot I can recommend, but I will NOT recommend... Berserk! It will take at least 20 more years to finish this series, if it is ever finished. If you haven't watched Berserk before, don't start.

Rossiu did what he did for the Greater-Good.. That is also an important lesson that Lagann was trying to teach.. that "this element" exist in times of "limited" information and resources...

Without Rossiu, for example, they wouldn't have resurrected the Spiral King, which preserved significant spiral knowledge...  You can't just KILL OFF bad guys... it's not always advantageous..  Coexistence is the ultimate goal..

I think you have to looks at it from the context of when it came out. It's a bit dated, but the "camera angles" and perspectives were a huge influence on The Matrix, among others. Overall, the story is just OK, but the visual style was a real game changer.

I agree it was probably one of the few high production animes of its time...

Tried watching it 5-6 times.. couldn't finish..

The same thing happened to me with "The God Fathers" series.. Tried over 10 times to watch it.. couldn't finish

Cromartie High School - Just sublime comedic genius. Unique. Nothing else in anime or outside it that's comparable really. Not to everyone's taste though.

Cowboy Bebop - You've probably already watched this over a decade ago. Probably one of the most watched, and well known animes in existence, but there's a reason for that; it just stands head and shoulders above almost everything else that was around at the time, and in my opinion almost everything else since too.

Best:
+1 for Steins;Gate (and ova)
+1 for Death Note
+1 for Clannad
+99 for Code Geass
+1 for Shingeki no Kyojin (except you're left groveling in the dirt, clawing for the second season at the end)
NHK ni Youkoso!

Very good:
+1 for Hellsing Ultimate
+1 for Sword Art Online
Angel Beats! (only 13 episodes)
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (funny)

Gurren lagann and fmab are very overrated imho. Both are decent though. I'd also have to challenge the "deepness" of gurren lagann. The plot structure was very poor imho. The characters were pretty flat but okay. It was fun I guess, but I wouldn't give it any points for having a well thought out plot. FLCL is basically an acid trip. Baccano! was pretty decent. I'm watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica right now, and it's interesting so far.

I watched the live action version of Cromartie High School which was pretty good.  Same with the live action Initial-D (I think it was called this, it had a tofu truck), and Kung Fu Hustle.

I'm only one episode in and already I'm like, why did he(the Survey Corps guy) just think it was cool to give this poor woman her dead son's severed arm? If it was his head, would he have just as nonchalantly handed that to her as well? And then he makes the entire scene about himself with his poor me attitude, not all the lives that were just lost.
And why is this kid the same cookie cutter, gloomy mood, angry at the world headstrong self entitled little winy **** from every other anime ever made, with his stereotypical yin to his yang sister who's just a stonefaced emotionless automaton. I mean why does he give a damn at the age of what, 11? 12? Coming from a family who care about them, these kids are downright unrelatable and ungrateful. Get out of hero mode bro, calm yo ****. Is this whole cattle thing supposed to be some kind of comment on modern society, and his hipster sensibilities won't let you enjoy your loving family? Not to even begin on Mikasa and her robotic attitude. Does this girl have a thyroid deficiency? She has the range of emotion one might attribute to a pillow filled with sawdust. Even after that tramatizing event, she still acts like she just smoked an oz. of grizz.

Oh and, WHY DON'T THE TITAN'S HAVE GENITALS?
I'll give it a few more episodes, but if AoT keeps pissing me off with it's predictability I'm gonna have to take a pass on the rest.

I thought the animation, filmography, all good..

However, when it comes to "combat"    What they're doing is just too stupid...

The fact that they can make some sort of "ultra-compressed" hydraulic system, and yet no one utilized the technology properly..

Look how freakn' long it takes to train their damn spiderman people...  It's ridiculous waste of time..

They should just pool their resources into mass producing medium-large ballistas..

All they would need is to launch enough roped-bolts (ankers) into the giants to temporarily bring them to their knees.. and run in with a guy and kill the giant..

This is another example of an anime that is ruined by  SUPER POWERED technology...  because it's completely illogical how they're using it...

Grrrrrrr...........

Now I'm MAD...............

I have to agree with Turtle and tp.

Titan's strength comes from it's emotional connection. The feelings of tragedy and heroism are amplified by the sheer magnitude of the action in the anime. The logic behind all of the magic however...doesn't really click so well.

So yeah, it depends on your values/personality on whether or not you'd like Attack on Titan. If you're the type to run in guns blazing, go for it. But if you're the strategy or introspective type...this stuff will not connect with you.

Ermmm finish the series x'D

Logic doesn't matter in fiction... most animes are totally unrealistic.. I mean writing someone's name in a notebook to kill him/her? Time machines? Since everyone here is ranting about gurren lagan, does "Screw logic!" ring a bell? 3D maneuver gear isn't any different. I found no problem with suspension of belief. It's done fine in my opinion.

I gotta say.. this is anime we're talking about; good luck finding much stuff that is too introspective or strategic (though I will again recommend Welcome to the NHK and Death Note and Code Geass :D... maybe Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu.. Monster). The plot is not at all just "run in guns blazing." There is actually development and depth, and it's not all fighting and explosions of blood. There's a good reason it's top ten. I will agree that it's more appealing on an emotional level, but it is not at all totally devoid of all else.

It's really the flow of the story that's upsetting to me. It'll be a balls out action scene for 2 minutes then an eternity of talking or focusing on something they could've spent a fraction of the time covering. It's difficult for me to get comfortable with the pacing, especially when you can predict exactly what's going to come next. Dragonball Z syndrome.
