ISO inferior slaverace
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

when someone BEGS you to trade their "endgame" cap out of your collection, only to discover it has been sold for profit behind the scenes

ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh, freakin' wellllllllllllll.

UGGHHHHH I feel ya bro...  :(

That feeling of finding out someone sold your gift.  It is not pleasant.  :|  Can't even imagine if they begged and said it was their "endgame".  :-/

How long it's going to take to build a collection worth sharing and trading for. I'm brand new to the community and hobby, so I've just begun building my base. I just want jump right in head-first but I know I need to test the waters a little more :)

I guess my lack of patience is what's bothering me. All this pent up excitement, learning everything I can about keyboards and keycaps, looking at other people's collections, and waiting for stuff to arrive. Until I learn a little more and acquire a little more it will be difficult to participate in community discussions except on a very superficial level. But damn, am I excited for that moment.

In the meantime, I have to work on that wallet control.
Make friends apparently, and get to know people most of the trades happen via that route although I don't know how everyone knows each other as I have never really talked to anyone outside of here, but I would say thats the best way to get stuff make friends

What happens many times is people find out before people post publicly they are selling things then they PM them and ask to buy things, being friends really doesn't matter, although it is like when someone wins the lottery everyone is your friend then.
But to find out you need to know them before hand, otherwise you wouldn't find out so you still need to be their friend also lol at the fact this just reaffirms their is a inner circle :X

I mean I'm not looking to just make friends for the sole sake of trading, but rather it was the innately friendly atmosphere that drew me here in the first place and made me want to be a part of the community. As much as I love the material stuff, the appreciation and respect people have for each other really sets this hobby apart from some others. You're all so supportive of each other and each other's goals - and that feels really special.

I'm pretty sure most people here have a fat wallet to spend, but you can have all the plastic in the world and it wouldn't matter at all if there wasn't an awesome group of people to share it with.

Honestly, I think the best thing to do with artisans is to take a step back and wait to dive in until you've been around a little bit.  It's really easy to get in too far, especially if you're new and everything looks amazing, but you'll find that over time most people manage to acquire artisans from sales if they wait long enough.  I know not everyone can commit themselves to this hobby for that long, and sometimes people just want to enjoy their keyboard offline without the mess of interacting with us weirdos, but I think this is the approach that will result in the least salt possible.  :P

Hey! I think you answered a question for me on r/mechanicalkeyboards about an artisan cap :P Thanks for your advice. I don't mind interacting with weirdos - at least they'll understand my obsession with a piece of plastic (something I'm having trouble expressing to my friends and family), and you are all a never-ending source of information for me. Really appreciate how kindly everyone's welcomed me so far, so fingers are crossed for those pleasant experiences to continue.

I did!  I actually recognized your username here after that too.  :D  Great to see someone new to the hobby take such a community-driven attitude (though it's not unheard of, by any means).  :thumb:

This is basically how things work on here, become friends with people with caps, be nice, and you'll get free **** OR you get the chance to spend a ton of cash on something that's been overly hyped.

On that note I'm just bothered by people calling keys endgame in general, it's never their endgame they only want more :I

Want a hug lurch you can have one for free

you're actually spot on for once.

people who ask for endgame caps are just trying to guilt trip you, a proven method that works all the time.

I personally don't like SA..  The reason being you want as little torque on the stem as possible, producing the least friction.

the Taller the cap, the more torque, the more friction..

People who buy caps based on how it looks, or how "less common" it is, are stupid and uncultured..

People that smell so freaking bad you can taste the air around them from many feet away. Public transportation is very convenient but it's like a Walmart on wheels.
In what country are you now, mate?

US. It mostly depends on the time of day and what parts of town that bus route goes through.

Trying to transfer the wife's photos from her phone to laptop....connection keeps dropping.

They are only from the last month or so and there's at least a gigabytes worth.

And one of the neighbors cows sound a little too close, I'm hoping one didn't get out.

The keycaps themselves feel nice and of course reek of nostalgia due to looking like vintage terminal caps; but in the present I'd much rather have G20's.

People who get promotions because they are ****ing the boss. That pisses me right the **** off. Especially when they go around saying "I hope no one thinks I got this job because I'm sleeping with the boss."

So mad right now  >:D >:D >:D

People who get promotions because they are ****ing the boss.

That is a tried and true technique that has worked millions of times, down through the years. Not for me, though.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

To get an A in Calculus 2, which I need, I have to get 95s on the remaining two exams and cumulative final.

When someone here decides to sell some of their personal collection, PMs the maker of the caps, gets his blessing to sell way above retail to help another fellow GH member in a hard spot with a significant chunk of medical bills, and gets hate mail over it.

The fact that i cant remember much. I'm horrible at Midterms and anything that hasnt been talked about within the past few days.

Even if it was recent, I cant remember important things. It's like my brain would rather ignore my wishes and would rather remember random **** like what chapter a specific topic was talked about in my class last semester that has nothing to do with what i'm doing now.

Lil ****y knows how my brain is.

(Brain, can you just get back to the issue here)
Uh, can you just remind the brain?
(You're such an idiot, we're talking about God
And if he exists)
