People who don't know how to mute themselves in a WebEx..

This is indeed very annoying. However, the last time this happened it was this lady who had been giving all of us grief for way too long. She forgot she wasn't muted and was telling a co-worker how dumb we all are and how much she needs vodka after dealing with us. I couldn't stop laughing! I sent her an IM saying "I know in IT we are dumb and all, but you forgot to put yourself on mute".  :)) She didn't answer me, but she did mute her phone.

Bahahaha, that's hilarious.  ;D

We had a person who kept putting a conference call on hold.  Yeah, that was nice.  Some pleasant elevator music to make the call a little less boring... Only problem was trying to talk over it.  :))  I don't think we accomplished much during those calls, too busy laughing.

Can you even do homework before the last minute?  I thought that was a requirement.

lol I typically don't do the whole last minute deal unless I hate the assignment. Which makes no sense, considering it only hurts myself.

That might be why I did it for every assignment.  You *like* some of your assignments??  :P

In my opinion it is one of most fun and satisfying things you can do off of drugs and alcohol on this planet and I highly recommend giving it a try if you can afford it. That brings me to one of the biggest hurdles at least for me is a day pass at a decent mountain/resort here in Vermont is around $85-$100. There are special days where you can get in cheaper and you can buy passes or badges before the season starts for a decent discount however even as a student your looking at $500 for one of the cheaper options. Take into mind this is Vermont and I haven't been skiing the west coast in 5 years and I have no clue how pricy it is anywhere else in the world.
My Rossignol S3's with Marker Baron cost me $330.
Fischer Vaccum boots, around $300.

$85-$100 for a day pass is ****ing insane.

Also, azhdar, how about custom boots? http://www.strolz.at/en/ski-boots/the-strolz-ski-boot/
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I've been told they could possibly enlarge the shell of the boots on the portion that is a annoying to me.

But none of the vendor could figure exactly who is this "they". I need to figure it out for this winter, because I expect hella lot of skiing (unemployment yeaaaaa).

The best assignments are ones that ask you to write some insane program, but don't make showing the code a requirement ^-^

You mean, the professor just checks the end result superficially instead of actually evaluating your work? I'm no CS major but that sounds unthinkable to me, like a math professor only reading the boxed answer and none of the steps you used to get there.

In me limited experience, this was common for entry-level courses before you really get a feel for proper coding norms, but after a certain point everything was checked at least to some extent.

However, one of my programming courses (Matlab) in a non-programming discipline (Chemical Engineering) saw a plethora of shoddily-commented, completely unorganized code; I have no idea how they actually graded the assignments for 95% of the students.  I think I was one of like 10 people in the class that even knew you *could* comment code and indent lines to properly "nest" different segments, much less did it.  :))

Nope not even that, he asked me to write a program to format a hard drive along with accompanying documentation but the assignment never asked for code dumps only to show the program running within my documentation.

I can't program, even a little. I had 4 months to do it.
Night before it had to be handed in I bought a bottle of Absolute Rasberry and a crate of Koppaberg. Spent two hours getting **** off Wikipedia and Photoshopping random Windows from VB, then got totally ****faced playing Wii Sports, woke up an hour before the deadline still drunk, turned on my monitor to find a 35 page assignment, completed.

Walked to uni, handed it in (still pissed) and got a pass. Brilliant.

Granted I got a pass and nothing else, but still, it's probably my greatest ever achievement.

That sounds hard. Feel free to pm me if you ever want to talk!

I did a computer networking course, which I dropped out of later that year due to its overwhelming lack of networking. (If that helps resolve the basic level of programming at 'degree level').

From what I recal it was a program from scratch, we had only been taught in VB up to that point, so it was expected that would be what we would use, but this was also quite a number of years ago now... I'm not going to pin a year on it, because that will just make me feel old haha

Thumb is still bugging the hell out of me.  Oh, and, if anything, it feels worse after taking the antibiotics the doctor prescribed.  It's only day 3 of antibiotics, but you wouldn't think it would feel worse.

I can't say I disagree. I know I'm still beyond annoyed about the GH60 since I'm seeing all these Euro orders go out and everyone else is in a black hole.

"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.

I can't stop watching Steven Universe

But that's not why I'm bothered.. It's that there's always gonna be another obsession..

I could be working, making music, lifting, self educating, but nah.. gotta ****ing watch cartoons.

On average I'm productive 2 days a week. This is what bothers me..

I used to have the same problem, still do to an extent. Except it was more like three fourths of a day each week. The main culprit was one particularly addictive, time-sinking website, which I cut out entirely. I started to replace the addiction with keyboards, but realized what I was doing and stopped myself.

It really is as simple as "just stop doing it". I know you haven't made a real effort to be more productive because if you had you wouldn't have a problem right now. It really comes down to the question "how much do you value your own time"? You might say depression or lack of energy is the cause of your lifestyle, but your lifestyle is the reason you lack energy. Don't blame it on things you can't control because you're in total control of your situation here.

I still putt around the internet a couple hours a day, and I've been watching Wakfu (not totally impressed so far, but I'm early in the first season), and I want no more for those activities than when I was doing them all day long. Time-wasting has diminishing returns like that. Almost everyone will agree it feels good for short periods each day, but every person I've encountered, including myself, who does nothing but waste time are unhappy.

I want to be a world-class illustrator, and that takes many thousands of hours of work and study over several years. I realized if I keep putting it off, eventually I'll be too old and jaded to care. Same goes for you. If you don't get off this path soon it's virtually 100% that you'll never accomplish the things you want to accomplish in life.

Also, something strange I noticed is that when you start to cut out unhealthy habits, others follow. For the past couple weeks for some reason I'll get the irresistible urge to get up and go run, so I do. It's strange because I never considered "getting in shape" to be a goal of mine. I can already tell my heart is getting stronger and healthier, and the exercise really is making me happier (a claim I always thought was BS)

I love Steven Universe. Put cartoons on while you lift. Or while you work. If you miss it, just rewind the episode. Make it background noise, not your prime focus. :D

People who are only friendly when they want something.

Well ok... so I've thought alot about this..

People who are only nice when they want something are (stupid) and (poor planners)

People who are nice-all-the-time are (Smarter) and they know that they'll (EVENTUALLY) want-something (therefore nice all the time).

This will save you alot of mulling over who's who, and why's why..

Selfish motivations drive all of humanity...

It may not be possible to be above it,  you yourself may not be capable of thinking any other way..

Sigh..  to be, is, to be imprisoned..    Perhaps awareness gives us a choice,  but I hope this one isn't but an illusion like all the rest.
