hello to the new turn of informational war
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

got selected for jury duty... for an estimated 4 week trial...

of course there's a further selection process on the day, so I'll need to look really biased/stupid or something on the day to get excused.

I know it's my civic duty to do my part, but damn, the court reimbursement is well less than what I get paid for at work..

My girlfriend got called in for it and was screened out immediately - I don't think they choose many young people

I know it's my civic duty to do my part,

I have trouble understanding why citizens are so reluctant to participate in the operation of the society that they live in.

Minor annoyances such as jury duty, voting, paying taxes, obeying laws, etc, etc, are a VERY small price to pay for the priviledge of living in the comfort and luxury of this world that we have the supremely good fortune of experiencing for a few decades.

Whenever I get irritated by some "1st world problem" I try to imagine the lives of my ancestors half a dozen, a dozen, a hundred, or a thousand generations back and thank my lucky stars that I am living here, now.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

I got called as well.

It was sent over to my old address and so it's way out of the way for me to go where they want, plus I have school to go to.

We'll see how it goes

I wouldn't mind doing it, I just don't feel I'll have time to even sleep at that point.

So this happened to my wife where she got called in a different county than where she currently lived. What happened was she got out of that, but was immediately called in where she was living.  Doubt it was coincidence.

Yea, I actually went online and applied to be relocated. I'm still in the same county so it's not that big of a deal, but I asked for somewhere close to my school

I do a lot of labs with equipment and so I need to be back to school ASAP so I don't miss out.

Hopefully they grant my request. Then I'll just deal with the busy schedule.

If not, I'll just have them postpone it till I'm on break or done with school.

Still a damn pain.

You don't have to look so far back you know, just look south across the border.. or maybe halfway round the world in many parts of Asia.

Microsoft broke today. **** went down. It was unpleasant.

When was Microsoft not broken?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Missed the preorders on Play-Asia for this little guy  :'( >:D

Worst part about it is that I was awake when pre-orders were live. It sold out in 3 minutes. Often times I will miss out due to me actually wanting sleep.

If you're not familiar with collecting amiibo, think of it like Clackvent. Except times 50...or however many Smash Bros. figurines Nintendo decides to release. Many preorders have sold out in seconds. I'm lucky enough to have a full collection but I really want this little guy because it's Famicom colors :(

So glad I don't care about amiibo's or Nintendo, this **** is like crack to people

The OG meme of r/amiibo:

ive jsut started getting in to amiibo, and it already makes me wanna bash my head against a wall

It's rough, but things are getting better. And you're not in the US...things are 100x worse over here. I used to live on the amiibo subreddit for a few months, it was the only way I could get some of the amiibos out.

I have a few extras I would be more than happy to send your way for free (like Pit, Rosalina, Meta Knight, Silver Mario...and a some others). Just let me know if you want any :)

I'm bothered by politics and the constant "us vs. them" mindset that people have to hold even about the most stupid things =/

I agree. Unlike us, those people are stupid.

I find it hilarious that T-Mobile sent me my new S6 in a nothing but a shipping bag with zero packaging/bubble wrap but for my trade-in phone I'm sending back to them they put "make sure you ship your phone to us using sufficient bubble wrap/packing in a box".

Protip - my brother once told me that Japanese soldiers who wouldn't want to fight would drink entire bottles of soy sauce as it will make you puke up blood... just in case you ever need to do a really good job playing sick
